Clean Power for Minnesota

Solar + Storage

The proposed Thousand Lakes Clean Power project includes up to 400 megawatts of power generation and 1,280 megawatt-hours of energy storage. This is enough energy to power over 90,000 Minnesota homes! The photovoltaic solar arrays harvest the sun’s energy and convert it to usable electricity. Some of the energy will be stored in modern, containerized battery packs. This energy can be dispatched as-needed, providing emission-free energy even when the sun isn’t shining.

An Economic Powerhouse for Otter Tail and Wilkin Counties

We expect the Thousand Lakes Clean Power project will bring numerous benefits to the community.

  • Hundreds of construction jobs

  • Estimated $37,000,000 in state and local taxes paid over just phase one’s lifespan

  • High paying permanent jobs for maintenance and operations

Thoughtful Siting

The proposed location for the Thousand Lakes Clean Power facility is east of Foxhome. The location offers several key advantages:

  • 100% private land

  • Proximity to grid interconnection reduces overhead electrical lines, reducing viewshed impacts

  • Land to be planted with native prairie plants for diversified habitat
